A LIVING LABORATORY · HENSOL WOOD

The Moth Project.

The beginning of a baseline: what lives here now, so that in ten years we can see what has changed.

On summer and autumn nights, a light array draws moths into view. A camera photographs them automatically. Images become a record, with AI helping to suggest names and people checking what they find.

The work is slow and local. The species count for this wood is still being established. Every checked observation adds to our understanding of the place.

THREE PUBLIC EVENINGS · 2027

Prepare. Observe.
Share.

Learn to set up the lights and look closely. Spend a night in the wood with warm clothes, red torches and patience. Then share what was found and contribute checked records to the people who keep them.

The array uses a range of light wavelengths to attract moths. AI supports identification; it does not replace verification.

Dates are to be announced. Public evenings are offered on a donation basis.

Notice who lives here.

The night belongs to the moths as well as the stars.
